Access to UC Davis Licensed Resources Using a non-UC Davis Internet Service Provider

Instructions for setting up a proxy in Mozilla (Macintosh)

Mozilla development stopped at version 1.2.1 for OS 9.
Version 1.2.1 for OS 9 is available for download and is on the UC Davis Internet Tools CD.

From the menu bar at the top of the window, select "Edit" and scroll down to preferences:




On the left panel, locate the Arrow () next to "Advanced"




Click on the Arrow () and the Advanced menu will expand:




Click once on the label "Proxies" to select the "Proxies" Pane




Click on the radio button labeled "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL"




Enter the following URL into the field labeled "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL":
     http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/proxy/pacserve

WARNING: If using Copy and Paste to enter this address - be sure there is NO space in front of the http




Click the button labeled "Reload"




Click the button labeled "OK"




You have now successfully completed the proxy setup. Exit Mozilla and restart it to force Mozilla to use the new settings.

Removing the proxy setting:

1. Select "Preferences" from the "Mozilla" menu of the browser toolbar
2. Expand the category labeled "Advanced" by clicking on the Arrow
3. Click once on the label "Proxies" to select the "Proxies" Pane
4. Click on the radio button labeled "Direct connection to the Internet"
5. Click the radio buttion labeled "OK"
6. You have now successfully removed the proxy setup
